Malia McLellan (she/her) is a performer who splits her time as a New Yorker and a current Junior in the Musical Theatre BFA program at Texas State University. She was born in London to a Scottish father an a Singaporean/American mom, and spent her early childhood living in the UK. At five, she crossed the pond and grew up in the suburbs outside of New York City. She blames Nickelodeon for getting rid of her adorable plummy accent.

Malia’s love of theatre began at age 9, sporting the orange and green of an enthusiastic Oompa Loompa in her first ever production, Willy Wonka Jr. She is incredibly grateful that she has the opportunity to train, perform and create everyday. 

 

Through her time at Texas State, Malia developed a passion for content creation and social media marketing, and she is currently serving as the social media manager for Texas State Musical Theatre. She has found so much joy in showing off her classmates as she uses her videography and editing skills in choreography and songwriting projects at school. Her interest and involvement in content creation has taught her the importance of the musical theatre business and marketing a brand.

 

Off stage, you can find Malia writing songs in her bedroom on her beloved guitar, traveling to other countries, scuba diving, trying new foods, indulging in an iced seasonal latte, and soaking up the sun with her family and friends.
